Infrared film

Having shot Kodak 35 mm infrared film for over ten years now, I was always amazed at how the heat and light created such beautiful images. Cool weather, however, gives a much more surreal look to the landscape. The sky in most instances is much darker, and the clouds just have that extra "pop" to them. My trip to Blue Cypress Lake a few weekends ago proved just that. It must have been in the 40's that morning, my fingers a bit numb. The results were more than worth it. Take a look at a sample.

Avatar

I went to see the movie Avatar last night. It had quite a message to it. The natives to another planet had a true connection to all plant life. The tree of life sustained them, and healed them. People of planet Earth, however, needed a valuable mineral found on their planet, and plundered this planet, destroying its plant and tree life. Sound familiar? I recommend everyone see this movie.

Collaboration

I met a Creative Writer yesterday evening at a reading party. I showed her one of my portfolio books to see if she would be interested in collaborating on a book with me. We'll get together at the first of the year and start brainstorming. Looking forward to yet another chapter in my life.

New work to be posted soon.

My two latest excursions to Blue Cypress Lake and Riverbend Park resulted in some wonderful images, bot color and black & white(infrared). Because of digital, color is becoming more prevalent in my work. I'm also working more with color film to see the difference. No matter what, I want my work to be pleasing to the eye. I'll post one image here from Blue Cypress Lake.

Advertising, search engines, and what not

I have invested money in my business in hopes of giving it a jump start. New brochures, an e-mail blast, and search engine optimization. Over 8,000 hits on my website today. Now lets see some results.

Edenlawn Plantation

Edenlawn Plantation is an historic part of Southern Florida. It is approximately 25 acres in St. Lucie County, a former pineapple plantation. Afterwards, it was converted into a resort for the rich and famous of that time(1887-1908). I have the opportunity to visit the grounds next Wednesday, April 15th. I'm looking forward to photographing a part of history. For more information, go to www.edenlawnplantation.com.

New Work

My latest work is drying in the darkroom. I printed two images from the Hobe Sound Nature Sanctuary and two from my Naples trip. I should be adding them to my website next week. My next trip is to the Orlando area Wednesday April 8th, and Thursday, April 9th. I'll be doing some nature work as well as fine art nudes in nature.

Naples Trip

I took a short trip to Naples to do some "local" photography and attend the next reception at the Sweet Art Gallery. The Estero River was a sight to behold. I'm currently working on developing my work. I'm sure there are gallery quality images in that shoot. I'll keep everyone apprised once I download images to my website. Would love to hear from somebody out there.

Saturdays shoot

Well, one of my models cancelled on me tomorrow. I was looking forward to doing a few shots of her on the shoreline in infrared. It's quite a surreal effect. My other model is coming in from Orlando. We'll be doing a casual/fashion and swimsuit shoot. I know she won't cancel.

First Entry

I have a photo shoot with a model Saturday morning. I scoped out the location, a place I have shot nature/landscape work before. This trip, however, found me exploring more deeply, and finding a beautiful shoreline with interesting driftwood. The patterns and textures always intrigue me. It's time to bring my camera down there. I'll look forward to the results.
